Using Your Tax Return to Buy the RV You’ve Been Dreaming Of

It’s tax season again and if you are like so many of us you have good intentions for your tax refund but somehow it just tax collage with logoseems to get absorbed into your everyday living and then you have nothing to show for the extra money. Or maybe you take that extra money and blow it on fancy dinners, nice clothes, or an extravagant vacation only to realize that 2 months after receiving the money you have nothing to show for it. How about this year making a conscience effort to use that money towards something the whole family can use plus you will have for years to come and it will essentially save you money on vacations, and it will help build stronger bonds within your family. All of this can be accomplished with the purchase of an RV.

Let’s say for instance you receive $6,000 back on your taxes. If you used $5,000 of this towards a new or pre-owned RV you could greatly reduce your monthly payments. In fact on average for every $1,000 put down on an RV there is about a $10-$12 reduction on the monthly payment. So if your payment was originally going to be $250 a month but you instead put the 5k down then you are looking at a payment as low as $190 a month, a savings of $60. You can also choose to put your next years tax refund towards the payments of the RV to help shorten the time you will be paying.

Overall by purchasing an RV with your tax return you will be able to take more vacations, spend more time with family, and actually be able to see what your tax return went to this year!

Re-Think Spring Break

Many of you reading this right now may be lounging by the beach or relaxing in your hotel room, all the while secretly wondering pig with logohow you are going to pay for this much needed spring break vacation. While still many more of you may be sitting at home wishing you could have taken the kids somewhere fun but knowing that it just wasn’t in the budget this year. While I am all for vacations, Spring or otherwise, I struggle with the fact that it is so expensive and these resorts are able to charge you whatever they want simply because it is a resort. Not only do you have to pay for a way to get there (either airline tickets or gas) but then the real money comes in when you have to pay for a hotel room. Once you are back home you spend the next 10 months paying off your credit cards you over-used while you were there only to do it all over again when March rolls around.

How about getting off of this money sucking cycle and explore the idea of RV vacationing? By purchasing an RV you then open yourself to an entire world of vacationing opportunities. While there are countless fun campgrounds to visit across the country there are also resorts that cater to RV’s. Even in Disney World there is a specific area just for RVers to enjoy. While there is an initial investment in purchasing the RV you will undoubtedly save money in the long run. Think about how much you would fork out for a 7 night stay at the beach…. $1,400? $1,500? $1,600? This amount of money would make a wonderful downpayment on an RV or cover many months of payments. The best part about owning an RV is that you are no longer limiting yourself to one vacation a year. Instead you can sneak away on a long weekend, go visit family over the holidays, and still rendezvous with the spring breakers without breaking the bank. So take control of your finances and make an investment that will give back to you and your family not just once but for years and years to come!

Using Your Super Bowl Leftovers For New Recipes

Rule of thumb when throwing a party is to always make more food than you think you may need, no one wants to run out of food superbowl leftoverspmwith a house full of hungry guests. With that being said it goes to reason that you will undoubtedly have left overs. As someone that doesn’t particularly like eating the same thing two days in a row here are a few recipe ideas using your typical Super Bowl foods.

The first one is pretty easy and that is using your leftover chicken wings. Simply pull the chicken off of the bone and shred. Take the shredded chicken and toss into a frying pan over med/low heat. Add a few tablespoons of water and some taco seasoning. With this chicken you now have the basis for some delicious chicken fajitas in no time!

Another common food that is leftover from a Super Bowl party is salsa and guacamole. And to make matters worse all too often there are no chips left to finish off these yummy dips. The best way to re-use this delicious combo is with your next mornings breakfast. Simply scramble up your morning eggs with a big scoopful of salsa. Put your eggs over toast and top with guacamole. The result is a yummy, protein filled breakfast. (Plus guacamole helps with hangovers as well!)

Meatballs are another common Super Bowl food that can make a wonderful leftover meal. Instead of keeping them in-tact like a meatball chop up the balls in a skillet until it resembles ground beef. From there simply add some finely chopped onion, green pepper, and garlic with a can of sloppy joe mix and voila~ an entirely different meal.

Last but not least with your leftover beer (yes there is such a thing in some households) you can make a delicious beer bread. All you need is self-rising flour, sugar, salt, beer, and butter. Simply follow this easy recipe and in no time you will have some warm and fresh homemade bread!

How to Improve your credit score

It is certainly frustrating to find the RV that fits all of your families wants and needs only to find out your credit score is too low. road with logoBut just because you have some work to do doesn’t mean you should throw in the towel on your RV dreams. Adding Onto Your Home VS. Buying an RV

People add on to their homes for many different reasons but more often than not it is to accommodate for more people. Whether it is your child who just graduated college that is moving back home, your in-laws are moving in, or your sister needs a place to crash for a bit. Whatever the case may be you may be considering adding on an addition to your house.

constructionpmBefore you call a contractor you might want to consider a second alternative which is purchasing an RV. While many people use their RV’s to travel the country there are still plenty others that keep theirs right in their very own driveway. While adding onto your house might have it’s benefits it is also not very cost effective. By the time you factor in supplies, labor, decor, furnishings, etc. you have racked up much more money than you initially thought. Plus by being attached to your house you or the people/person moving in with you will have limited privacy. By using an RV not only are you saving a fortune but you can offer your new dweller their own space while still keeping your own privacy in tact.

This solution is also ideal for hosting overnight guests as well. Plus you can always use it for double duty and take the family on a weekend camping trip. Additionally, you can always sell your RV if the living situations don’t work out or plans change whereas, you certainly can’t sell a room off of your house.

So before making an irreversible and uber-expensive investment it would most definitely be worth your time to look into purchasing an RV. Not only will it save you money but will also save you hassle, privacy, and quite possibly relationships.
