Yesteryear

I’ve had enough and decided to move back to yesteryear
It’s a simpler time, a simpler place, yes I rather like it here.

People seem to move a little slower and enjoy their world around
kids act just a little more at ease and not so tightly wound.

I can walk into the soda shop and buy some candy for a nickel
Go play catch on a summer day, ride around on my bicycle.

Back when jobs weren’t scarce and taxes weren’t high
back before terrorism was prevalent and things went awry.

Yes I feel quite at home in this make believe place
It’s much more style and much more my pace.

Back here marriage is still a sacred pact
Kids have mother and fathers, families stayed intact.

Children here respect their elders, they call adults ma’am and sir.
Men dressed up for dinner and woman were classy and demure.

All in all a much more peaceful place full of wholesome delight
And I plan on staying here as long as I can whenever my eyes are closed tight
