The Secret to a Long, Happy Marriage

Marriage is work… there is no denying that. And while at times it might seem like you are disagreeing at every twist and turn just know that there are ways to convert even the most bumpy marriage into a smooth ride. Studies have shown that finding a common interest is one of the best ways to strengthen a marriage. With that being said, no matter how hard I try I can’t even feign interest in my husbands video games. He on the other hand can’t wrap his head around my near obsession with noxboxscrapbooking. It was clear that these hobbies weren’t the “sharing” kind. We struggled to find an interest that we would both find…. well interesting. And then it hit me.

We both enjoy the outdoors and we both like vacationing (who doesn’t?) and while we used to tent camp I knew that with kids and my full disdain for sleeping on the ground that that was out. So we started exploring the idea of buying an RV. I could tell after the first time looking at them that we had found our common interest. We were both so excited and finally working together as a team on a joint goal. Now that we have our RV we try to go camping nearly every weekend. It gives our whole family something to look forward to, to plan around. The kids love it of course and my husband and I have reconnected over our joy of exploring, hiking, and road trips. Now if I could just talk him into leaving the Xbox at home this year!
