A Single Lane Bridge for the Generation Gap

generationgapWe are living in a time where for the first time ever there are four distinct generations with their own generation gapideals, morals, and behavioral attributes. For example the traditionalists (aka the silent generation) were born between 1927 and 1945 and characterized by their hard work and lack of technology in their upbringing. Then we have the baby boomers born between 1946 and 1964 and described as workaholics and competitive. Then comes Generation X born between 1965 and 1980 characterized as hard workers but with a disdain for authority and tolerant for alternative lifestyles. And now we get to Generation Y born between 1980 and later. Gen Y grew up on technology and most rely on it to preform their jobs. Most of this generation prefer fewer billable hours and flexible schedules and a better work/life balance. Many older generations see this as lazy but they defend it by saying they have a more family oriented priority.

So now that we have shown how different these generations are from one another it seems highly unlikely that it would be easy to find something that they all enjoy or could be interested in. But I think I have found the ideal activity that could bring all generations of your family together whether it be for a trip, celebrating a holiday, or just reconnecting over a long weekend and that is camping in an RV. Let’s face it not much has changed over the years as far as camping goes, sure the RV’s are much nicer but the overall theme is the same. You sit around a fire, roast marshmallows, explore your surroundings, and talk to one another. This is the perfect escape from everyday overwhelming technology and allows for the face to face contact that seems to be a thing of the past. So build that generational bridge and reunite your family in the great outdoors with the comforts of home.
