A Reason to Winterize

So you just got a RV? Congratulations! I’m sure there are so many places you plan to go and things you plan to see. But a word of precaution, without winterizing your RV over the winter you might be stuck here in good ole Indiana come spring time waiting for your unit to be repaired. If you plan on winterizing your RV by yourself this year there are a few things that you will need to get started. First of all you will need anti-freeze. Now this isn’t your typical toxic vehicle anti-freeze. This is the pink, non-toxic anti-freeze specifically made for RV’s and their water systems. And while you may see the pink anti-freeze on sale at Walmart or another big retailer chances are theirs is only effective until -25 degrees below zero. We all know that some of these harsh Indiana winters can produce temperatures below that with windchill and if you use the -25 then you are out of luck when your pipes freeze. Here at Walnut Ridge we only sell anti-freeze that is effective until -50 degrees below zero to ensure that your rv stays freeze free and unharmed during the dead of winter.

An RV cover is often one of the most important and yet most often overlooked aspect of winterizing your RV. With our new triple layered Tyvek covers it protects the outside and therefore the inside of your unit from all leaks and wear. In addition to the mainframe cover it is suggested that you use tire covers as well. These covers will protect from ultra-violet light as well as keep air pressure maintained and tires clean.

We all know how important it is to keep your RV in tip top shape and by implementing these winterizing tips into your routine you will prevent some major issues.
